MINUTES OF THE WEST SHORE WATER PRODUCERS ASSOICATION

SUMMER MEETING JULY 24, 2003

Milwaukee, Wisconsin

 

 

President Jeff Musinski called the meeting to order, at 8:45 AM in the Pavilion Room at the Miller Brewery Center located at O’Donnell Park

 

President Musinski then welcomed all for attending the meeting. He mentioned that anyone wanting to see the Milwaukee’s meter test area a bus would take attendees to and from this building at 12:30 PM.

 

President Musinski introduced our first speaker Mr. Dan Merritt of Badger Meter. Dan spoke on Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) and the technologies that are being achieved with that type of system. Dan then introduced Mr. Graig Nissen of Badger Meter and he gave his presentation on MAG Meters.

 

Next, President Musinski introduced Mr. John Van Ardel of the ME Simpson Company.

John spoke on Water Accountability and Leak Detection.  John indicated that the AWWA would be moving in the direction of the International Water Associations (IWA) methodology in determining water loss and new terminology in what water loss means to water utilities.

 

President Musinski, then introduced Mr. Quentin Clark PE of AB&H. His presentation was on Bench Scale Laboratory Testing & Piloting Selection of Water Treatment. He discussed the various options and tests they took in order to get Algonquin Water Utility to be able to remove Iron and Barium from there shallow and deep wells.

 

President Musinski then started the business meeting, he entertained a motion to dispense the reading of the minutes of the spring meeting held in Hammond Indiana. There was and motion and second, the motion was carried.

 

Treasurer Mike Kosterman, gave a financial report of the spring meeting, a motion was made to accept and seconded, motion carried.

 

Vice President Tom Wheathers noted that we are accepting applications for the Emmitt Sutliff. The award will be presented at the winter meeting, so get the forms back to him with a nomination.

 

President Musinski then once again thanked all for attending the meeting, and noted that the next meeting will be held in Waukegan IL at Midland which will be an afternoon meeting following the golf outing

 

The meeting was adjourned for lunch.
